In a post on the official Ubisoft Blog, the developer/publisher explained that the Wii U version of the game is being developed by Ubisoft Bucharest, in collaboration with Ubisoft Montreal. Unlike the other platforms, Watch Dogs for Wii U will take advantage of the hardware with new features, including an interactive map displayed on the Gamepad’s separate screen, as well as Off-TV Play; a feature utilized by many other Wii U titles.
Originally, the game was set to release in November 2013, which many saw as the title to kick off the next-gen consoles. It was eventually delayed until a vague Spring 2014 then, finally, Ubisoft settled for May 27, 2014. Following its launch, it become Ubisoft’s most pre-ordered new IP and went on to sell over 8 million copies. Contrary to expectations (and the hype), however, it wasn’t quite the next-gen console seller that Ubisoft had no doubt hoped.
Just last week, DLC for Watch Dogs was revealed, along with a new trailer. Officially called “Bad Blood,” players are brought back into Chicago as Raymond “T-Bone” Kenney for a brand new story set after the events of the main game. In addition to more time with T-Bone (if you’vc been longing for it) “Bad Blood” also brings with it new side-missions, weapons and outfits.
Watch Dogs: Bad Blood is set to release on September 30 (or September 23 for Season Pass buyers). It’s currently unknown if the new content will come to the Wii U version of the game. Ubisoft may be waiting to see how that version sells before making a decision.
Watch Dogs for the Wii U is scheduled to finally release on November 18, 2014 in NA; November 21, 2014 in Europe.
